Montessori East County Preschool was established in the summer of 1985 in Lakeside, California. The Directress/Owner, Donna Bridgeman, and staff have been happily serving the community by helping young children grow Socially, Emotionally, Physically, Intellectually and with the Montessori Philosophy. Developed around the turn of the century by a female physician, the Montessori method consists of a specialized teaching style and expertly designed materials that combine to unlock each child's natural motivation to learn.
We at Montessori East County Preschool, are a licensed day care facility, license #376700140(preschool) & #376700256(infants). We are licensed for 14 Beautiful Infants and 102 Bright Preschoolers. We have maintained our licensing since 1985!
We also work hand-in-hand with the local Fire Department and Sheriffs Department to ensure the safety of our school and to expose our children to the people who keep us safe.
The Montessori Method
Unlike most traditional classrooms, in which teachers impose lessons upon a group of children organized by age, Montessori creates an environment in which the teacher plays the role of facilitator as each child satisfies his or her own inherent urge to learn and develop. Further, as Montessori does not segregate children by age, older children share their skills and knowledge with younger ones. This not only acts as an important motivator, as the younger ones emulate their more advanced peers. It also serves to develop crucial social skills as well.
In short, Montessori teaches children how to learn. What is more, it does so at a critical age -- two through six years -- when their receptivity to new concepts is most keen and core aspects of their personalities are being formed. Through Montessori they discover that the will, ability and skills to learn are inside each of them rather than provided externally. And in so doing, it helps provide a foundation of self confidence and esteem that can serve them for the rest of their lives.
Our Wonderful Teachers
Here at Montessori East County Preschool, all of our teachers meet or exceed the minimum college credits to be a preschool teacher. Even after achieving their minimum credits many of the teachers continue their schooling, which is highly encouraged. "We believe there is no end to our own education as teachers", Mrs. Donna.
Each teacher has a through back-ground check and has been finger printed by the local authorities for the schools safety.
During all times of operation there is more than one teacher on the premises with their current CPR & First-aide Certification.
